         In het kader van het globale Seine-Scheldeproject, waarbij de Leie zal worden uitgebouwd tot een Europese hoofdvaaras voor schepen van de CEMT-klasse Vb (4.400 ton – éénrichtingsverkeer) dient het pand 140 van de Leie aangepast te worden. Het pand 140 is gelegen tussen afsplitsing afleidingskanaal van de Leie te Deinze en de sluis van Sint-Baafs-Vijve. Om het gevraagde binnenvaartverkeer toe te laten, dient het gabariet aangepast te worden. Naast de infrastructurele aanpassingen voor de waterweg (= het luik Binnenvaart) is in het GSP voor de Leie tussen Wervik en Deinze tevens een luik rivierherstel voorzien, waarbij onder meer een herwaardering en versterking van het natuurlijke karakter van de Leie en haar vallei beoogd wordt.
