         De VRT heeft menigvuldige transmissiemiddelen in eigen beheer waarmee enerzijds reportages en uitzendingen intern worden doorgestuurd en anderzijds videofeeds via satelliet worden ontvangen en upgelinkt.

         Al deze transmissiemiddelen moeten op elk moment aanspreekbaar zijn en worden vanop afstand bediend en gecontroleerd via een master&control systeem (M&C).

         De VRT is nu op zoek naar een nieuw schakel – en controlesysteem waarmee alle cruciale transmissiemiddelen flexibel kunnen worden bediend volgens de nieuwste trends. Vandaag de dag wordt deze M&C binnen VRT opgesplitst in de volgende deelsystemen:

         • Apparatuur gerelateerd aan het VRT satelietgrondstation (antennecontrollers, satelliet modems,...)

         • Telecom apparatuur t.b.v. de WAN glasvezelverbindingen (mediaconverters,...)

         • Headend apparatuur (encoders, DVB-S2 ontvangers,...)

         • Servers (Windows, Linux en IOS)

         De communicatieprotocollen op al deze toestellen lopen uiteen. De toestellen worden momenteel via verschillende beheersystemen gecontroleerd en/of geschakeld. Met deze aanbesteding is het de bedoeling om 1 nieuw M&C-systeem te implementeren dat op termijn al deze toestellen als een overkoepelende NMS kan beheren.

         In eerste instantie bestaat de opdracht erin om de bediening/controle van alle reeds geïntegreerde aparatuur binnen het Control Maestro bedieningssysteem van VRT over te zetten naar een nieuw M&C-systeem. Daarnaast wordt er afgetoetst in welke mate installaties, beheerd via andere in dienst zijnde monitoringsystemen aan dit nieuwe systeem kunnen worden toegevoegd.

         De bedoeling is om via een dashboard een summier statusoverzicht weer te geven van verschillende deelsystemen en services, waarbij men dan desgewenst kan afdalen om tot op toestelniveau de status na te gaan.

         Het is van groot belang dat zowel het schakelen van toestellen als het real-time weergeven van toestanden zéér snel kan worden bewerkstelligd.

         De gepolde data moet ook retroactief kunnen worden geraadpleegd zodat het genereren van grafieken en diverse trendings mogelijk wordt.
